About the data
What the years mean
Values came from INDOT’s 2015–2024 traffic-zone releases. Actual count dates weren't supplied in shapefiles.
Some 2016, 2019 and 2020 records carried older or blank reporting years; carried-over values were preserved in the source details but excluded from that year’s map and comparisons. The 2022 file had no reporting-year field; its year came from INDOT’s archive label.
Comparing the same stretch
Road segments tended to slightly differ between years. Matching across years required at least 97% geographic coverage within 8 metres, with no substantial competing section. Changed, split, short or ambiguous stretches appear as gaps. Road names were used as reference labels.
Counts weren't interpolated or averaged across sections. Percentage change was unavailable when the starting value was zero.
Coverage & sources
Coverage varied by year. Segment totals should not be added to estimate citywide traffic: the same vehicles can pass multiple sections.

Boundaries: U.S. Census TIGERweb, Marion County (18097). Street names were derived from INDOT highway identifiers or spatially matched Census 2025 roads; they may differ from historic names. Background street tiles show current OpenStreetMap geography. Traffic data and map controls work without tiles.
